50th Anniversay: Ed Sullivan & The Beatles

In the Winter of 1964, The Beatles invaded America and swept the nation off its feet with their first American television appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show on February 9th.  It was a Sunday evening.

Exactly 50 years later – to the very day and minute – Darshwood (playing the role of Dutch magician, Fred Kaps) joined producers of the Beatles inspired festival Abbey Road on the River and more than a dozen other professional entertainers to reenact the entire show; complete with an Ed Sullivan impersonator and Beatles tribute band, Brit Beat, from Chicago.

It was a 50 minute hair-raising and heart-warming event that ended in a full standing ovation by the lucky few at the KY Center for the Arts who were there to witness it.
